To supplement this, we aim to appeal to as wide a public as possible
with supporting activities, and firmly anchor the museum as the vehicle
for culture in the town of St. Veit an der Glan. For this, the museum’s
doors are wide open to everyone who is interested, because the
museum regards itself in this sense as a place for education, research
and encounters, for exchanging thoughts, for entertainment and as
forum for events, exhibitions and activities.
The work of the museum is supported by the voluntary work of the
“Verkehrsmuseum St. Veit” association, and financially by its members,
the town of St. Veit an der Glan and the museum’s sponsors. In order to
tackle the goals it has set itself, the work of the museum has been
organised in line with the key themes, in other words responsibility for
these themes lies with experts who have appropriate training and
experience. A dedicated model-building group has also been created to
look after and expand the model railway layout.
The chairman of the “Verkehrsmuseum St. Veit” association is
responsible for managing the museum, centrally coordinating the
organisation units involved and representing the museum externally.
The centre point of the museum’s services is the exhibition, with its
carefully chosen and collected exhibits.
With a unique model railway layout and the operation of a railcar
driving simulator we want to realise our wish to appeal not only to our
well-versed visitors, but also to the younger public, and awaken the
interest of people who are less familiar with our key themes. In addition,
with our special exhibitions on selected themes and the expansion and
completion of the existing collections, we aim to continuously support
the attractiveness of the museum. The museum’s endeavours are
rounded off conceptually by our cooperation with schools and the
exchange of experience with likeminded institutions.
