       The	“satellites”

“Satellites”	is	the	name	given	to	foot	servants
       who	attended	a	high	master.
They were founded in 1292 as personal
       protectors	for	Duke	Meinhard	II.
In 1880 there was a change of uniform, and
the guard was given permission to wear the
       uniform	of	the	imperial	bodyguard.

In	1715	Emperor	Charles	VI	bestowed	the	6.25	m²	silk
banner	upon	the	satellite	guard	during	his	visit	to	St.
                         Veit.
It	is	the	largest	swing	flag	in	Europe.

       Carinthian	Resistance	Movement

       Numerous documents, exhibits,
pictures and maps from the period
between 1918 and 1920 convey this
       historically significant period very
       graphically and exceptionally
       informatively.

The	substantial	involvement	by	the	Director	of	the	Carinthian	Provincial
Archive,	Dr.	Wilhelm	Wadl,	in	selecting	the	items	presented	underlines
       the	importance	of	this	collection.

There	is	also	an	option	of	obtaining	audio-visual	information	by	monitor:
a meaningful summary of the period of the Carinthian Resistance
Movement	and	the	Referendum	is	shown	at	10-minute	intervals.
